    In this work the open-plus-closed-loop (OPCL) method of synchronization is used in order to synchronize the systems from the Sprott's collection of the simplest chaotic systems. The method is general and we were looking for the simplest coupling between master and slave system. The interval of parameters were synchronization is achieved are obtained analytically using Routh-Hurwitz conditions. Detailed calculations and numerical simulation are given for the system I from the Sprott's collection. Working in the same manner for non-linear systems based on ordinary differential equations the method can be adopted for the teaching of the topic

    Participatory location fingerprinting through stationary crowd in a public or commercial indoor environment

    The training phase of indoor location fingerprinting has been traditionally performed by dedicated surveyors in a manner that is time and labour intensive. Crowdsourcing process is more efficient, but is impractical in public or commercial buildings because it requires occasional location fix provided explicitly by the participant, the availability of an indoor map for correlating the traces, and the existence of landmarks throughout the area. Here, we address these issues for the first time in this context by leveraging the existence of stationary crowd that have timetabled roles, such as desk-bound employees, lecturers and students. We propose a scalable and effortless positioning system in the context of a public/commercial building by using Wi-Fi sensor readings from its stationary occupants' smartphones combined with their timetabling information. Most significantly, the entropy concept of information theory is utilised to differentiate between good and spurious measurements in a manner that does not rely on the existence of known trusted users. Our analysis and experimental results show that, regardless of such participants' unpredictable behaviour, including not following their timetabling information, hiding their location or purposefully generating wrong data, our entropy-based filtering approach ensures the creation of a radio-map incrementally from their measurements. Its effectiveness is validated experimentally with two well-known machine learning algorithms

    Small-world phenomena have been observed in existing peer-to-peer (P2P) networks which has proved useful in the design of P2P file-sharing systems. Most studies of constructing small world behaviours on P2P are based on the concept of clustering peer nodes into groups, communities, or clusters. However, managing additional multilayer topology increases maintenance overhead, especially in highly dynamic environments. In this paper, we present Social-like P2P systems (Social-P2Ps) for object discovery by self-managing P2P topology with human tactics in social networks. In Social-P2Ps, queries are routed intelligently even with limited cached knowledge and node connections. Unlike community-based P2P file-sharing systems, we do not intend to create and maintain peer groups or communities consciously. In contrast, each node connects to other peer nodes with the same interests spontaneously by the result of daily searches

    Inhibition of Epstein-Barr Virus OriP Function by Tankyrase, a Telomere-Associated Poly-ADP Ribose Polymerase That Binds and Modifies EBNA1

    Tankyrase (TNKS) is a telomere-associated poly-ADP ribose polymerase (PARP) that has been implicated along with several telomere repeat binding factors in the regulation of Epstein-Barr virus origin of plasmid replication (OriP). We now show that TNKS1 can bind to the family of repeats (FR) and dyad symmetry regions of OriP by using a chromatin immunoprecipitation assay and DNA affinity purification. TNKS1 and TNKS2 bound to EBNA1 in coimmunoprecipitation experiments with transfected cell lysates and with purified recombinant proteins in vitro. Two RXXPDG-like TNKS-interacting motifs in the EBNA1 amino-terminal domain mediated binding with the ankyrin repeat domain of TNKS. Mutations of both motifs at EBNA1 G81 and G425 abrogated TNKS binding and enhanced EBNA1-dependent replication of OriP. Small hairpin RNA targeted knock-down of TNKS1 enhanced OriP-dependent DNA replication. Overexpression of TNKS1 or TNKS2 inhibited OriP-dependent DNA replication, while a PARP-inactive form of TNKS2 (M1045V) was compromised for this inhibition. We show that EBNA1 is subject to PAR modification in vivo and to TNKS1-mediated PAR modification in vitro. These results indicate that TNKS proteins can interact directly with the EBNA1 protein, associate with the FR region of OriP in vivo, and inhibit OriP replication in a PARP-dependent manner

    Accurate indoor localization with zero start-up cost

    Recent years have seen the advent of new RF-localization sys-tems that demonstrate tens of centimeters of accuracy. However, such systems require either deployment of new infrastructure, or extensive fingerprinting of the environment through training or crowdsourcing, impeding their wide-scale adoption. We present Ubicarse, an accurate indoor localization system for commodity mobile devices, with no specialized infrastructure or fingerprinting. Ubicarse enables handheld devices to emulate large antenna arrays using a new formulation of Synthetic Aper-ture Radar (SAR). Past work on SAR requires measuring mechan-ically controlled device movement with millimeter precision, far beyond what commercial accelerometers can provide. In contrast, Ubicarseā€™s core contribution is the ability to perform SAR on hand-held devices twisted by their users along unknown paths. Ubicarse is not limited to localizing RF devices; it combines RF localiza-tion with stereo-vision algorithms to localize common objects with no RF source attached to them. We implement Ubicarse on a HP SplitX2 tablet and empirically demonstrate a median error of 39 cm in 3-D device localization and 17 cm in object geotagging in com-plex indoor settings
